Happy 4th of July babes!!!
Today is one of my very favorite holidays, I love having the day off with my husband and spending the day on the beach with good friends with our toes in the sand. Tonight, I look forward to the amazing firework display on the oceanfront.

I had been seeing pictures of people in American flag denim shorts and started to search online for a pair when I thought, I think I could just paint an old pair I have.. So that’s what I did.

{materials needed. Paint. Large paint brush and smaller. Newspaper. Shorts. Star stencil.}

{I painted the white stripes first. I didn’t use anything to measure out the width but you could to be more precise}

{then I did the red ones}

{painted the blue base}

{used my stencil star and painted around it with the white and smaller paint brush}

{then removed the stencil and filled in the star. After I did the stars I went back with the blue and cleaned up my lines a bit.}

I love any holiday I get to wear our countries colors or wear American flags or just celebrate being American!! I am so excited to celebrate the forth of July and in preparation I got patriotic with my nail polish..

I start with painting all my nails other than the tin finger with my chosen color. Then I use the Saphora glitter polish as the base on my ring finger (the glitter in it makes the loose glitter stay better) when it’s still wet i sprinkled the loose silver glitter on the tip and then the loose red glitter at the top of the nail. Then I just tap my finger a few times to get the excess away. I usually put the glitter back in the container but with this style I just tossed it because the colors mixed together.

hi readers, happy summer!!!
After a long hiatus from the busy year and planning the wedding, and officially being Mrs. Askins, I am back! I have missed writing in P&M and I’m so excited to start up fresh.
In the next few weeks I will cover our wedding and all the amazing details and our phenomenal honeymoon to Italy.

I am loving the summers trend of colored pants and fluorescents. I found these pants for a steal ($59) while on a mini vacation in North Carolina. I have a good friend who owns two boutiques in the outer banks, one in kill devil hills called Amity and one in Duck called Islands by Amity (I’ve done a blog before on) I love to make day trips down even if I’m not in the area because she has the most fabulous eye for buying and I never walk out empty handed. If you’re heading down for vacation or ever in the area make sure to pop in!

As I’ve said before, last weekend was my bridal shower. There were so many people who contributed to throwing me the most beautiful shower. My maid of honor, mom, and future aunt had countless meetings and pom pom making parties. It was perfect, pink, and girly. My favorite flowers were there, the cake of my dreams with the sweetest cake topper, pink this and pink that. I felt so honored and so overwhelmed with gratitude. I loved everyone there and I still can’t believe it was MY bridal shower.

My bridal shower was this past weekend, it was perfect, girly, and pink (pictures to follow this week on the amazing details). The weekend was a bit chilly and I was glad so I could wear this long sleeve maxi. I honestly can’t believe I’m five weeks away from being a bride. I don’t think heavily about it because it all makes me very emotional. I can’t wait to give everyone a romantic night and I can’t wait to marry this man…

While down in Florida I went shopping in down town St petersburg. There were some of the cutest vintage shops I’ve ever walked into and wonderful boutiques with great little finds. I didnt have nearly enough time to pop in all them but I did get some great things in the ones I did.
Our week started out chilly in VA and I was so happy to wake up to 70 degree days again by Tuesday so I could put on my new shorts!

Over the weekend I was in Florida for my bachlorette shindig with the girls. It was relaxing and amazing and I was sad waking up on Monday back in Va.

My nails seem to always say what kind of mood I’ve been in or what colors I’m loving or how frisky I’m being.
I’ve been on the color and a little glitter kick for a year now and I don’t see myself giving it up anytime soon.

Pink and gold is my choice for the next few days.. Seemed appropriate for my bachlorette weekend in Florida with the girls.
